Restaurateurs back ‘Feast for Peace' to aid child war victims
More than 50 restaurants have signed up to a charity scheme which aims to raise thousands of pounds to help children in war-torn countries around the world.
Participants in the "Feast for Peace" will host special dinners and events between 26 and 29 November, and donate a suggested 25% of the day's takings to the War Child charity (Caterer, 11 June, page 18).
Celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli will be "Cooking with Kids" at his W8 restaurant, while Aldo Zilli will host a celebrity dinner on 25 November. And the two Nosh brothers - taking their cue from War Child supporter Luciano Pavarotti's Three Tenors - will go on a restaurant crawl through London with radio presenter Jono Coleman as the "Three Diners" in full operatic gear soliciting donations from diners in return for not singing.
Other events will include the auction of traditional Thai costumes at Mathurose Thai restaurant in Sydenham, and an Indian restaurant in Crawley that will serve food that "is only used in happy occasions, celebrations and feasts".
