Irish group Ryan Hotels has set itself a target to have 500-600 bedrooms in the UK, mainly in London.

Chief executive Patrick Coyle said the group would be seeking its next acquisition in the capital next year.

Last month the group agreed to buy its first London hotel, the Charles Dickens, for £21.5m from Thistle Hotels.

"This marked our first move into the UK. I want to see more critical mass in London before looking elsewhere," said Coyle.
