Sale secured on Pool Court

PooL Court, Michael Gill's former Michelin-starred restaurant in Poole-in-Wharfedale, West Yorkshire, has been sold to local restaurateur Chris Monkman.

The sale price was not disclosed, though agent Robert Barry & Co was seeking offers over £400,000. It was put up for sale last year after Mr Gill shifted his premises to Leeds hotel 42 The Calls.

Mr Monkman currently runs the Grove at Ilkley, but it is understood this will now be put on the market.

He plans to rename the new restaurant Monkman's Bistro and Bedrooms. It will reopen on 1 June after being redecorated to create an eastern Mediterranean feel. Cooking will be informal bistro style.
