Satellite shoes mean no more late pizzas

Take-away pizza giant Domino's Pizza is to use global positioning satellite technology to stop its delivery drivers getting lost.

Domino's franchise owners are being offered specially made trainer shoes for their delivery drivers to wear, each with an electronic chip embedded in the sole.

Once a driver's exact location is pinpointed, a colleague in the restaurant will contact him by radio to give him advice on the best route to the customer's address.

Bernadette Eddisford, of Domino's Pizza, said that the special shoes would help drivers locate their customers' homes. She said: "The majority of late pizzas are the result of lost delivery drivers."
