SIHM takes first stepsin Europe

Kuwaiti-based Safir International Hotel Management (SIHM) has made its European debut by taking on the management of two hotels in South Kensington, London.

The Albany Hotel and the Kensington Edwardian Hotel, which have 150 bedrooms between them, are owned by Luxembourg-based investment company Realco.

The hotels were previously managed by Vacation Hotels. They are now both overseen by general manager Mauro Bernesi, who formerly managed the Five Lakes Hotel, Golf and Country Club near Colchester, Essex

SIHM intends to develop the two properties as boutique hotels. The company, a subsidiary of Kuwait Hotels, also manages three properties in Kuwait, three in Egypt, and two in Syria. It says it is close to new management contracts in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
