Six out of 10 Americans stay at home
Six out of 10 Americans will take fewer trips abroad for their holiday, said a report last week from travel marketing firm Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown.
The report, which tracks the travel habits and intentions of Americans, said 48% of travellers were more likely to holiday closer to home, 60% saying they would not travel to destinations such as the Middle East and New York.
Travel within the USA appeared to be bouncing back, with nearly nine out of 10 Americans saying they had not changed their travel plans.
Only 22% of leisure travellers said the 11 September attacks would influence travel plans.
Among those who said that their plans had been affected by the attacks in Afghanistan, 54% said they had cancelled or would cancel their holiday.
