Staff win claim after corpse is found in toilet

Two managers of an Irish pub-restaurant are to receive compensation for unfair dismissal after a body lay undetected for three days in the toilet.

John Hogan gets IR£13,500 (£10,589), and his junior, Maeve Breen, IR£7,620 (£5,977) from Irish Molly's pub and restaurant in Killaloe, County Clare.

An employment appeal tribunal rejected owner Barnaby Ross's claim that they resigned after the body of widower John Byrnes, aged 65, was found in a vandalised cubicle last October.

The toilets were cleaned daily, but Byrnes' body was not immediately discovered. He had died of natural causes.
