A Leicestershire man who clocked up a £116,000 tax fraud while he was running a hotel, has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Peter Leatherland, of Ash Lane, Costock, pleaded guilty before Leicester Crown Court to evading VAT payments while he was running the East Midlands Hotel in Loughborough, between 1995 and 1998.

The court heard how he failed to declare any VAT during the three years.

He was given a 15-monthjail sentence, suspended for 18 months.
