Taking coffee to the people

A mobile espresso vehicle based on a Vespa Piaggio road-going three-wheeler is the subject of a franchise concept developed by Caffeine Craze. Vehicles cost franchisees £16,000 all-in, including Fracino electronic espresso brewers.

The scheme's instigators initially considered gas powered espresso machines but believe that the electric machines fitted in vehicles are more labour-saving since they can be automatic rather than a lever operated.

The scheme also entails a franchise royalty on each cup of coffee sold. So far, 12 franchisees have signed up.
