Taste of the orient

This is just a small taste of all the wonderful products you will be able to sample on your way round the show. Look out for Catering Update's in depth review of the European Ethnic Food Show in the July edition

Oriental food is big business, as is fusion food. Customers have become passionate about sampling different cuisine and flavours wherever they go and have come to expect a huge variety of dishes across the ethnic spectrum.

Chinese food alone has an annual turnover of £1.9 billion which represents 40 per cent of all ethnic food sales in the UK. That's across foodservice and retail.

Ethnic Food 2000 presents top names in the Chinese market and with half the UK chomping its way through Oriental food, the show offers a fantastic opportunity for pubs and restaurants to clue up on new ways of generating profit.

Whether you are thinking of running a theme night or just trying to add a few dishes, there's plenty here to start you off.

Wing Yip, a major supplier to Chinese caterers and the Chinese domestic market in this county, has four superstors across the nation selling more than 2,5000 oriental products along with its own brand spring rolls and sauces.

Kim's Food is displaying its frozen crispy pancakes for crispy duck.

Brake Bros is showing off its Aromatic Half duck marinated in five spices.

And if all this makes you feel thirsty, then look out for Sun Lik draught larger, brewed in the UK for San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong.
