Thai group in London swoop

London's 80-bedroom Courtfield Garden Hotel is being relaunched as the Oki Hotel Kensington, following its purchase last month by a Thai-based consortium.

The two-star standard property, previously owned by a private company, is being upgraded to four-star standard at a cost of about £1.5m. The project will be finished by July.

A spokesman for the hotel said the new owner, a consortium led by Bangkok-based conglomerate Oki Industry Co, was hoping to acquire five or six hotels in London over the next 12 months to two years.
