BOOKER FOODSERVICE made a statement to Catering Update about its stance on gentically modified ingredients.

"Booker Foodservice provides its customers with quality food products which adhere to the most stringent hygiene and safety standards. This applies to the use of genetically modified foods.

"We exclude all materials which contain protein or DNA derived from genetically modified organisms from our own lable food products.

"In addition, Booker Foodservice is aware of the wider concerns associated with current labelling requirements. Our own brand manufacturers ae asked to advise in writing the presence of any raw materieals known to be of GM origin.

"Manufacturers must also confirm in writing any development likely to alter the GM status of a product so that necesary action may be taken."
