Toilet standards on the skids

Toilet standards on the skids

Dodgy toilet roll dispensers, smelly loos and taps that spray you in embarrassing places are the top three lavatorial pet hates of conference organisers.

Meetings agency Banks Sadler also found nearly two thirds [62%] of event planners felt the quality of loos was an important factor in deciding whether to switch from one venue to another.

Other failings guaranteed to cause toilet tantrums included blocked bowls, no loo rolls, cigarette burn marks, lack of soap and toilet "check" boards not being kept up to date.

The top five venues voted as having the most impressive toilets were the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel, London, the Posthouse, Guildford, the Gatwick Hilton, Crabwell Manor Hotel, Cheshire, and the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews.
