Top hotel helps the homeless

The May Fair Inter-Continental hotel in central London will be doing its bit to help the homeless this year through a link-up with a local night shelter.

The hotel plans to donate bedspreads, curtains and items of furniture when some of its bedrooms undergo refurbishment early this year.

Staff have already donated clothes and shoes to the Passage Day Centre and Night Shelter near Victoria station, and housekeeping staff have donated half-used soap tablets and shampoo bottles collected from the hotel's rooms.

The hotel also provided food for the centre's Christmas party.
