With rumours flying around about the state of the European truffle harvest following the exceptionally dry weather across the Continent, it may be wise to trial some from further afield. Truffle Trade is a small outfit from Kent dealing in various fungi, including black truffles from the Himalayas. The company says the produce looks and smells the same as the European fungus but is only about one-third of the price. The truffles will arrive in December, but orders are being taken now. Delivery and postage is included in the price.

PRICE: £20 per 100g; £175 per kg; £750 per 5kg; £1,000 per 10kg

AVAILABLE FROM: Truffle Trade 01580 241232
