TUC delays plan to name and shame bad bosses

The Trades Union Congress (Tuc) has put back plans to expose unscrupulous employers while it investigates the worst of the 5,000 complaints made to its "bad boss hotline".

The TUC had hoped to name and shame the worst offenders, some of them high-street names, in December 1997. But a spokeswoman said last week that the list was now likely to be published in April.

Many calls came from the hospitality industry, including one from a hotel in West Sussex where qualified recruits from catering college were said to be working 14-hour shifts for £2 an hour (Caterer, 11 December 1997, page 5).
