Two-in-one vending scores with students
TWO-in-one products which offer both money and space savings were the theme on the Polyvend stand.
Kirsty Parker, vice-president of the student union at Brunel University, and responsible for vending at the university, was among visitors particularly taken by the concept.
She estimates she can save about £3,000 if she can persuade the university's purse holders to buy the latest model in Polyvend's 800 series - the 2409.
Parker enthused: "It's a great idea to combine two machines in one, a snacks and confectionery merchandiser and a refrigerated food machine.
It not only saves you the expense of buying two separate machines but combining the two services saves space."
The price of a standard food carousel is about £8,000 and that of a snack machine about £5,000.
The Polyvend 2409 has 24 helix selections with capacity for 386 items including space for 108 food items in the refrigerated carousel.
A thermostat in the food carousel cuts off the power if the temperature rises above 7ºC, an out of order sign flashes up and the carousel cannot be used. Specifications: height 1830mm; width 1016mm; depth 889mm; weight 381kgs. List price: £8,295.
