Two more hotels sold off by Jarvis

Jarvis Hotels has sold two more of the nine properties it put up for sale in June after a drop in profits.

The 57-bedroom Mount hotel in Tettenhall, West Midlands, has been bought for about £2m by start-up company First! Venues, which describes itself as "a provider of specialist conference centre facilities to the corporate market".

It is headed by Russell Secker, former operations director at Arcadian Hotels, and chaired by Stephen Evans, previously director of Whitbread Restaurants.

Simon Scott, founder of venue-finding agency Book-O-Tel, is business development director.

First! plans to invest £3m in the Mount hotel over two years to transform it into a conference and training centre.

The second ex-Jarvis property sold is the 27-bedroom Royal Oxford hotel, in Oxford, which has gone to a private buyer for a price said to be more than £1m.
