Royal Hotel

Paragon Hotels has sold the 41-bedroom Royal Hotel in Kettering, Northamptonshire, to hotelier Mohammed Afzal for close to the asking price of £950,000. Afzal plans to spend £500,000 on refurbishment. The agent was Robert Barry.

Chirnside Hall

Chirnside Hall Hotel, a 10-bedroom hotel in five acres in the Scottish Borders, has been sold for £395,000 to Joe Gomez, former operations manager at the Taplow House Hotel near Maidenhead. The agent was Christie & Co.

Summit feeds Swedes

Summit Catering has won the contract for City-based Swedish Bank, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, previously run by in-house caterers. Annual turnover is estimated at £800,000.

Fat Jackets at Courts

Courts Quality Foods, which has 11 counters in food courts across the UK, is to open a Fat Jackets, selling baked potatoes, at the Trafford Centre in Manchester this month.

Independent's day

Independent Catering Management has taken over the contract to cater for St Mary & St Joseph's School in Sidcup, Kent, from Fairfield Catering. It has also won the contract for a staff snack bar at Balfour Kilpatrick in Wallington, Surrey, from Eurest. Turnover for the two contracts is around £150,000.
