Torquay businessman John Hambley has bought the 100-seat Green restaurant at Widecombe in the Moor in the Dartmoor National Park through agent Bettesworths off an asking price of £300,000.
Smallest pub
Agent Robert Barry is seeking more than £300,000 for England's smallest pub, the Smith's Arms near Dorchester, Dorset. The pub is 39ft 6in long and 11ft 6in wide.
Nelson's double
Nelson Hind has scooped two new one-year staff catering contracts. One is to feed 200 staff at Linpac Corrugated Cases at Devizes in Wiltshire in a deal worth £100,000 in annual turnover. The second is to provide breakfast and lunch for 800 staff at Racal Radar Defence Systems in Crawley, West Sussex.
Mizen head on it
The Leadbitter family plan to create a real ale pub at their newly acquired two-star, 15-bedroom Mizen Head hotel in Bamburgh, Northumberland. Agent Robert Barry was seeking £295,000 for the hotel which has a lounge bar for 54 and a 50-seat restaurant.
North Wales sale
The seven-bedroom Giler Arms hotel near Betws-y-Coed, Gwynedd, has been sold to Peter and Caroline Lincoln through agent Robert Barry off a £225,000 asking price. The Lincolns previously owned a pub in the Welsh borders.
