US drivers demand clean hotels
Cleanliness is the first thing travellers look for when deciding where to stay in North America, according to a survey from the American Automobile Association (AAA).
The report lists the top five factors travellers in the USA and Canada consider when choosing a hotel.
Primarily, they want their rooms to be thoroughly cleaned and well maintained, with all equipment in good working order.
The second most important factor is price, followed in third place by location.
In-room amenities, such as films, coffee-makers, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, are ranked in fourth place.
The fifth deciding factor is professional, friendly service.
The report reads: "Housekeeping and other reasonable needs should be provided on request, and the staff should have a neat appearance, operating professionally and ethically."
The AAA is North America's largest motoring organisation and has 43 million members.
