Vickery sues Castle hotel

CHEF Phil Vickery is suingKit Chapman's Castle hotel in Taunton, Somerset, where he worked as head chef for nine years.

It is understood he is seeking damages for unfair dismissal and breach of contract.

The dispute is due to be heard at a two-day Employment Tribunal in Exeter, Devon, starting on 10 February.

Jill Watmore, Chapman's secretary, said: "No statement is being issued until that date but, hopefully, the matter will be resolved before or at the tribunal."

Vickery succeeded Gary Rhodes as head chef of the hotel in 1990 and went on to become a director of the family-run business.

He left the hotel last summer (Caterer, 1 July 1999, page 7).

Vickery could not be contacted for comment.
