One of the latest general Web sites for restaurateurs was launched last week at the Restaurant Show. The site, www.therestaurantgame.com, offers news and information on property, hygiene and safety, design, education, recruitment and business. Its managing director is Edwina Lilley, who founded the Est Est Est group, but much of the site has yet to be developed. It should be fully operational by January.

The Royal Garden hotel in London has relaunched its Web site, which includes a special section by the concierge giving the latest information on what is going on in the capital. Recommendations for dinner include Sugar Reef, the Belvedere and the Pharmacy, while the "what's new" section gives a rundown on the Tate Modern. This is a straightforward site, with clean design and it's easy to navigate.

Sodexho Prestige, the corporate hospitality arm of the big contract caterer, is now offering its customers the chance to organise client entertainment on-line. Corporate packages for Ascot, Six Nations rugby, the Chelsea Flower Show and Henley Royal Regatta are all available on the Web. An event planner shows all the possibilities, from Wimbledon to the British Grand Prix, on a giant calendar - at the moment it's still 2000-only, but presumably 2001 will be up soon.

Madaboutwine is a wine site that sells to the trade as well as private buyers. France figures highly in the listings, although there are selections from New Zealand, Chile, South Africa and Italy. It gets novelty points for stocking Musar Rosé 1994 from Lebanon.

L'Atlantique hotel on Guernsey has launched a special site to entice people to visit for its eighth international sausage festival. Nine sausages are vying for the top sausage title with entries from as far away as New Zealand and the USA. You've got until 31 October to have a look before the festival ends.

Hilton goes high-speed

The Langham Hilton in London has introduced broadband Internet access in all its bedrooms this month. The system is said to be 175 times faster than using a dial-up modem for the connection.
