Wetherspoon on new benchmark

Pub operator JD Wetherspoon opened its 600th pub at the weekend, in Islington, north London.

The company spent more than £1m developing Lloyds No 1, The Glass Works.

Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin said: "This is yet another landmark for the company, and we're now looking forward to opening many more pubs and bars across the UK in the coming years."
