Wix plans luxury hotels

Jonathan Wix, the man behind Leeds hotel 42 The Calls, will use proceeds from last week's sale of his Victoria hotel, Bradford, to build at least two more luxury hotels.

Mr Wix plans to repeat the up-market 42 The Calls in six cities in England and Scotland, but, after being out-bid on two office conversion opportunities in central London, he is turning away from the capital. The sale of the 63-bedroom Victoria to Friendly Hotels is thought to have raised £2.4m.

Bradford was always considered to be a difficult market for the hotel. "I think Friendly can make a tremendous go in Bradford, but I need to be in primary cities," Mr Wix said.
