German-based hotel group Kempinski is to manage a 440-bedroom hotel in the emirate, Abu Dhabi. The hotel, set in 200 acres, has the largest conference facilities in the Middle East. Kempinski already operates more than 30 hotels in the area.
Listed acquisition Hotel group Mövenpick is to open a four-star, 216-bedroom hotel in the listed Siemenshaus building in Berlin. The acquisition comes just a few months after the group acquired a 250-bedroom hotel in Frankfurt. Both hotels are due to open in 2003. Mövenpick has 41 hotels in eight countries around the world.
LA confidence Radisson Hotels & Resorts has reopened the 600-bedroom Radisson Hotel at Los Angeles Airport following a £12m renovation. Jay Witzel, president of Radisson, said the hotel was part of the company's strategy to expand Radisson in top locations.
Power at the Palace Maltese hotel owner and operator Corinthia Hotels is looking to take a controlling stake in the 285-bedroom Nevsky Palace hotel in St Petersburg, Russia, in a £28m deal. The city administration owns the controlling stake in the hotel, which is run by Sheraton. Corinthia will have to pay back debts of £105m accrued during construction of the hotel.
Polish investment French hotel and office developer Pascal is to spend £116.8m opening three luxury hotels and up to 15 two- and three-star hotels in Poland.
