Marriott Internationalis to manage a new267-bedroom hotel in Australia. The Brisbane Marriott will open in April.

Sheraton Addis

ITT Sheraton has opened its first hotel in Ethiopia. The 295-bedroom Sheraton Addis, inAddis Ababa, is thefirst hotel in Africa to come under the banner of ITT's Luxury Collection.

Consortium grows

The 230-strong Small Luxury Hotels of the World consortium is targeting India and Latin America for expansion, while warning that existing members who do not maintain standards will bethrown out of the organisation.

Forte goes east

Forte plans to openfive new Le Méridien hotels in the Indiansubcontinent over the next two years. Sites will be in Kathmandu in Nepal, Faru Island in the Maldives, at Bombay Airport, and at Cochin and Kumarakon in Kerala state.

Heritage in Vienna

The 14th-century,five-star Hotel Ambassador in Vienna has become the first Austrian property tojoin Grand Heritage Hotels, which now comprises 80 historic properties in the USA, Caribbean, UK and Europe.

Regent's resort

The Regent Las Vegas and the Regent Grand Spa hotels will be at the centre of one of the USA's most luxurious golf and spa resorts, The Resort At Summerlin, which is scheduled to open in Las Vegas in April 1999.
