Wyndham sales
Hotel group Wyndham International is selling 13 hotels to property company Westbrook Hotel Partners for $447m (£288m). The hotels will be managed by Sunstone Hotel Investors, which operates 61 properties across the USA. The sale, which is expected to complete within three or four months, is part of Wyndham's plans to sell all "non-strategic" assets.
Carlson Franchise
Scandinavian hotel group Rezidor SAS has signed a $4.3m (£2.8m), 30-year deal with US-based Carlson Hotels to franchise three of Carlson's brands: Park Inn, Country Inn and Regent.
Greece stubs it out
Greece, arguably the smoking capital of Europe, has imposed tough laws banning smoking in public places. Restaurants and cafés escaped an outright ban but have been told they must provide smoke-free areas or else face fines.
Best for Yemen
The first Best Western hotel has opened in Yemen. The four-star Best Western Hadda hotel has 70 bedrooms and conference and banqueting facilities for up to 500 people.
Sheratons for sale
Two Sheraton hotels in Amsterdam are being put up for sale by their owners, Dutch private equity fund Hospitality Europe. Hospitality Europe is looking for owners for the 230-bedroom Sheraton Hotel Pulitzer and the 408-bedroom Sheraton Amsterdam Airport. Both hotels are five-star.
