Danish deal

Radisson SAS Hotels Worldwide is to gain a seventh hotel in Denmark after signing a franchise agreement with Limfjordshotellet to run a four-star, 180-bedroom property in Aalborg. The hotel will become the Radisson SAS Limfjord Hotel Aalborg from the New Year.

Rock steady member

Pride of Britain's newest member, the Rock Hotel, is actually sited overseas, although still on British soil - in Gibraltar. The consortium has also signed Hazlewood Castle near Tadcaster in Yorkshire, and Bindon Country House near Wellington in Somerset.

Maturin choice

Hilton International is to manage a new $27m (£16m), 230-bedroom hotel in Maturín, Venezuela, on behalf of owner Edificios Inteligentes. The Hilton Matuín opens in late 2000.

African confab

The World Travel & Tourism Council is one of the organisers behind a seminar at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, on 24-25 November, on how to apply sustainable development criteria to tourism in Africa.

Scandic sun rises

Sweden's Scandic Hotels boosted net income by 95% in the first nine months of 1998 to SKr201m (£15.5m). Sales rose by 33% to SKr3.6b (£275m). Operating margins climbed from 4.5% to 6.2%.
