Hawaiian choice
Choice Hotels International has added the 242-bedroom Clarion Hotel Waikiki Terrace and the Clarion Kiahuna Plantation, comprising 333 plantation-style bungalows, to its Hawaiian hotels. Both are owned and operated by Castle Resorts and Hotels of Honolulu.
Marriott in Armenia
Marriott International is to manage Hotel Armenia in the Armenian capital Yerevan. Owned by AK Development, East-West Financial Services and a US investment group, it will have 222 bedrooms and will be renamed Marriott Hotel Armenia.
Sol Meli profits up
Spanish hotel management company Sol Meli achieved a net profit of Pts4,992m (£21m) for the first nine months of the year, an increase of 20.9% on the same period last year. It opened 42 hotels worldwide in the nine months ending September 1998.
Dublin Morrison
Property group Thomas Read Holdings is to open an £18m hotel in Dublin called the Morrison. Designed by John Rocha, phase one is opening in February and will include 88 superior bedrooms and five suites. Phase two, which is due to open in late 1999, will include an additional 35 bedrooms.
Russian first
The Leading Hotels of the World 1999 directory will be printed in Russian for the first time in the company's 70-year history. Leading Hotels of the World opened an office in Moscow earlier this year.
