Yellow cards to back up disability law

Restaurants and hotels that breach new disability laws are likely to receive a yellow card, similar to those issued in football games.

Radar, the Royal Association of Disabled and Rehabilitation, is sending out cards to thousands of disabled people to issue to those that they believe have discriminated against them.

The front of the card will inform staff that the company has been caught in breach of the Disability Discrimination Act. On the reverse will be a space for the disabled person to write any message.

"It will act as a warning to service providers and is a way to make disabled people more proactive about their rights," said Radar's legal officer Samantha Fothergill.
