Livio Bisterzo to convert Mayfair pub into Italian restaurant

A former Mayfair pub is to be transformed into a small Italian restaurant by Livio Bisterzo, a partner in the capital's private members' club Maddox Club.

Pollen, which is due to open in mid-February on the former site of the Black Lion and French Horn, behind Hanover Square, will offer "a menu of seasonal Northern Italian dishes with an emphasis on the light and healthy".

Stefano Stecca will be in charge of the kitchen having joined the new venture after five years at Brunello at the Baglioni hotel in west London. Front of house will be overseen by general manager Eugenio Rolfo who has spent the last 18 years at Harry's Bar in the capital. Design will be handled by the BGW Design studio.

This is the first restaurant project from Bisterzo, whose Alvaro group also includes a property development arm and a skincare range, as well as the partnership in the Maddox Club.
