Liverpool's Lock & Key bar to open hotel

Liverpool's Lock & Key bar is to open a 14-bedroom boutique hotel under the same brand, after transforming an adjoining row of Georgian townhouses.

Developers Andrew Spencer, Tom Bower and Michael Connolly opened the Lock & Key Bar in Liverpool's Duke Street in autumn 2017 as the group's first hospitality project.

The adjacent Lock & Key hotel, which occupies a Grade II-listed property that had been left empty for a decade, has started taking bookings ahead of its scheduled launch in early 2019.

Many of the building's period features have been restored and incorporated into the hotel's interior design, including ceiling mouldings, marble fireplaces and Georgian shop-front windows.

The hotel owners worked with local interior design firm House of Sloane to create what they described as "plush, playful spaces filled with bold patterns, jewel-like colours and sumptuous materials".

Design highlights in the individually designed rooms include botanical inspired wallpapers, anthracite woodwork and brass accents.

The rooms also feature marble wet rooms, velvet headboards, cocktail chairs and drinks trolleys, as well as cocktail kits and handwritten city guides.
