A Curious Group of Hotels acquires Drakes of Brighton

A Curious Group of Hotels has acquired Drakes Hotel in Brighton for an undisclosed sum.

The Georgian seaside property, which features a mix of contemporary and traditional design, will undergo a gentle refurbishment.

Jessica Frankopan, co-founder of A Curious Group of Hotels, said: "We are so thrilled that Drakes is becoming part of the Curious family. We have been looking for a seaside hotel since we started a Curious Group of Hotels more than twenty years ago and delighted that we are helping write the next chapter in the history of this wonderful hotel in the heart of such a fantastic city."

Nick Earee, divisional director of Fleurets South, who oversaw the sale, added: "We are delighted to have acted on behalf of A Curious Group of Hotels to acquire this fantastic hotel which occupies a prime position on Marine Parade, overlooking the sea and Brighton Pier."

A Curious Group of Hotels was founded by Peter and Jessica Frankopan. Its portfolio includes L'Hotel in Paris, Canal House in Amsterdam, and the Portobello Hotel in London.

The group sold Cowley Manor in the Cotswolds to Paris-based hospitality firm Experimental Group in May 2022.
