Birmingham Indian restaurant Asha's forced to close due to fire

Indian restaurant Asha's in Birmingham has been forced to close after a fire started on its roof on Friday (7 July).

The BBC reported 20 firefighters were sent to an 11-storey building on the corner of Edward Street. It is believed the fire was connected to an air conditioning system, according to West Midlands Fire.

Writing on Twitter this morning, Asha said: "We regret to inform you that as a result of the fire last Friday, Asha's will be temporarily closed." The post went on to say that Asha's sister restaurant Zen Metro will be open with extra dining slots for Asha's guests.

The popular Indian restaurant has welcomed a stream of celebrities, including Tom Cruise (pictured above), who visited the outlet in summer 2021, Ed Sheeran, who dined at Asha's in April last year and, earlier in June, Pink made a surprise visit to the curry house.
