Dan McGeorge steps down as head chef at Rothay Manor for Liverpool project

Dan McGeorge is to step down as head chef of the three-AA-rosette restaurant at Rothay Manor in Ambleside after six years.

The Acorn award winner completed his last service on 25 October and plans to spend time with his young family ahead of the launch of a new project in his hometown of Liverpool.

McGeorge said: "This has been a difficult decision to make, however the time is right for me to move on and focus on future projects.

"Over the last six years at Rothay I've been fortunate to have had a hard-working, focussed, and dedicated team of chefs at my side. As a result, we've achieved a lot together, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the suppliers, staff and guests for their support."

McGeorge joined Rothay Manor in September 2017 and in January 2019 the restaurant was promoted two from to three-AA-rosettes, which it has retained for four years.

In 2020, he won an Acorn award, The Caterer's annual list of the 30 young people to watch in the hospitality industry.

Rothay Manor was awarded a Michelin Plate in January 2021 and McGeorge was crowned the Great British Menu Champion of Champion's the same year.

Further details of the chef's upcoming venture in Liverpool have yet to be confirmed.

McGeorge added: "I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds and hope to be in a position to reveal my future plans in the coming months."
