Border Agency official resigns with a cake to start his own catering business

A Border Agency official has quit his job in spectacular fashion to start his own cake business.

Chris Holmes (aka Mr Cake) handed in one of his creations to the management of Border Force in Stansted.

Handwritten in black icing on a cake covered in white icing, he explained that he had decided he wanted "to spend my time doing something that makes me, and other people, happy."

"For that reason, I hereby give notice of my resignation in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family and to my cake business which has grown steadily over the past few years," Holmes continued in his resignation letter.

"I wish the organisation and my colleagues the best for the future and I remind you that, if you enjoy this cake, you can order more at www.mrcake.co.uk."
