Chef Gareth Bartram announces departure from Winteringham Fields
Gareth Bartram, chef director of the Michelin-starred Winteringham Fields in Lincolnshire, will leave the restaurant at the end of February.
Bartram announced the news on Instagram, stating "the time has come to move on and explore new opportunities".
His sous chef James Nicklin has been promoted to head chef and Bartram expressed his confidence that "the restaurant will go from strength to strength" under his leadership.
Bartram added: "To the team past and present, thank you for your dedication, passion, hard work and commitment to delivering such a high standard of food, service and hospitality. We wouldn't have achieved so much without all of you!"
The 2021 Great British Menu star hinted he will be sharing some "exciting news which will follow in the next few weeks".
Bartram stepped into a career in hospitality while working for a local butcher's shop aged 16. He studied at a catering college in Grimsby, which led to a job at Gordon Ramsay's Boxwood Café in London. He has also worked at Jack's Restaurant in Corsham, Bath.
He was head chef when Winteringham Fields won a Michelin star in 2019.
