Marcus Wareing and Andrew Wong to speak at Gold Service Scholarship launch

Dame Kelly Holmes and chefs Marcus Wareing and Andrew Wong are to speak at the launch of the Gold Service Scholarship 2024.

The trio will join Robbie Bargh, founder of the Gorgeous Group, Simon Rawlings, creative director of David Collins Studio, and Adam Hyman, founder of Code Hospitality, to kick-off this year's competition.

The event, taking place at the Corinthia London from 3pm - 6pm on 4 September, will see the speakers discuss what it takes to succeed in hospitality, high performance mindsets, and the role of service in a restaurant experience.

The Trustees of the scholarship are inviting potential candidates and their employers to attend the event, which takes place the same day the 2024 competition opens for entries.

The Scholarship is open to those aged 22 to 28 who are currently employed in a food and beverage front-of-house role.

It offers prizes including a bespoke four-day course at the renowned hotel school in Lausanne, study trips to vineyards in Europe for the scholar and winning finalists, and work experience at the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok and Hong Kong.

A range of other courses are on offer for those who reach the quarter and semi-finals.

Applications for the Scholarship open on 4 September and close on 3 October.

The quarter finals of this year's competition will take place on 21 October 2023 at the Langham, London and on 23 October at Hotel Café Royal, while semi-finals will take place at Rosewood London on 20 November.

Jupiter Humphrey-Bishop, from the Royal Household, won the 2023 competition.
