The Guinea Grill reopens with an additional 88 covers

The Guinea Grill in London's Mayfair has reopened with an additional dining space and two new private dining rooms.

As a result of the refurbishment, the historic Young's pub, which first opened in 1952, has bolstered its ground-floor dining area by 60 covers and introduced two new dining rooms: the 12-cover Gallery and 16-cover Wine Room.

Head chef Thiago Brigidi is serving a classic British menu showcasing dry-aged, grass-fed British beef, supplied daily by family butchers, Godfreys.

Typical dishes include prime beef cuts from Porterhouse and Chateaubriand; beef, oyster and Guinness pie; and prawn and crayfish cocktail.

Cristiano Pellizzari, general manager at the Guinea Grill, said: "Due to the popularity of the pub and dining demand from our guests, we are delighted to have been able to expand the Guinea Grill to accommodate for further bookings without losing any of the pub's conviviality and charm.

"As one of London's oldest pubs and steakhouses, it is a landmark site and an integral part of the capital's pub scene, and the team and I are looking forward to welcoming back our guests for a pint at the bar."

The Guinea Grill is believed to be London's first steakhouse and occupies the site of an inn that dates back to 1423.

Oisín Rogers, who opened the Devonshire pub in London with Ashley Palmer-Watts and Charlie Carroll last year, was previously the landlord of the Guinea Grill.
