Chris Froome's Tour de France win boosts Yorkshire hotel bookings for next year's event

Hotels in Yorkshire are reporting a surge in bookings for the 2014 Tour de France following the success of Chris Froome in this year's event, according to online booking agent LateRooms.com.

With the opening stage of the Tour de France setting off from Yorkshire on 5 July 2014, hotels in Harrogate have already experienced a huge boost in bookings, up 30% on the same date in 2013. Leeds too has seen the benefits of the tour with bookings there are up 17% year-on-year.

Lynda Matthews, head of marketing at LateRooms.com, said: "With UK cycling success sky high at the moment, it's no wonder Tour de France fans are booking so far in advance for Yorkshire 2014.

"We are really excited to be able to offer lots of hotel availability for the areas this international event is passing through, and pleased that our customers are taking advantage of the fact they can book up to a year in advance."
