Flemings hotel opens the Drawing Room space in £14m refurb

Luxury hotel Flemings in London's Mayfair has launched new lounge space the Drawing Room as part of its ongoing £14m refurbishment.

The brunch and afternoon tea venue has also updated its 129 bedrooms, suites, and apartments as part of its refurbishment plans; as well as its bar. It is also planning to open a new restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin in spring 2016, which was first announced in April.

The Drawing Room's new menu will focus on brunch from 8.30am to 11am, and afternoon tea from 12.30pm to 5pm, including dishes such as date and cacao granola; fresh fruit salad; pancakes with bacon and maple syrup; and mini viennoiserie.

The décor has been designed to emphasise the room's tall ceilings, sash windows and original 1850s fireplace. It also features de Gournay hand-painted wall panels portraying views of India, colourful artwork by painter Eileen Schaer, and Bernardaud crockery. There is also a library stocked with cultural books by publisher Assouline.

Part of the consortium Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Flemings Mayfair first opened as a six-townhouse building in 1851, and welcomed Henrik Muehle as general manager in 2014 to help drive forward its development programme.
