Hotel group IHG signed a further 54 hotels to its European pipeline across the Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo brands in the year June 2010 to May 2011.
The deals represent more than 7,800 rooms in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Kirk Kinsell, president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, IHG, said: "Signing a further 54 properties is testament to the strength of our brands and reflects our commitment to growth in Europe. These new additions mean IHG continues to hold the hospitality industry's largest development pipeline, with 1,236 hotels worldwide."
Hotel Indigo signings (UK)
â- Hotel Indigo York: Owned by Sojourn Hotels, a 101 room new build property located within the city walls of York and scheduled to open in Summer 2012. Sojourn Hotels will also open Hotel Indigo Edinburgh, a 60-room independent hotel rebranding to Hotel Indigo in Autumn 2011.
â- Hotel Indigo Newcastle: Managed by Sanguine Hospitality. Due to open in Summer 2012. Currently a disused office building. The 148 room hotel is located in the heart of the city centre.
Staybridge Suites signings
â- Staybridge Suites Edinburgh: Managed by BDL Management, is set to open in winter 2012. This new build hotel will have 121 extended-stay suites.
â- Staybridge Suites London Stratford: 162 extended-stay suites and will open in spring 2012. Owned by ES Properties (Stratford).
Crowne Plaza signings
â- Crowne Plaza Resort Colchester Five Lakes: Owned by AB Hotels, this is a 194-bedroom rebranding, due to open in the summer.
Holiday Inn signings â- Holiday Inn London West India Dock Road: Owned by West India Dock Road Ltd, this is a 252-bedroom new-build property scheduled to open in summer 2012.
â- Holiday Inn Nottingham Sherwood Park: A 92-bedroom rebranding scheduled to open in the summer. Owned by Signature Hotels.
â- Holiday Inn London Barking: A 207-bedroom new-build property due to open at the beginning of 2013. Owned by Key Homes Barking.
â- Holiday Inn Walsall: A 154-bedroom rebranding, scheduled to open at the end of 2011. Owned by Hotel Operations (Walsall).
â- Holiday Inn London Commercial Road: Owned by Sleeptex, scheduled to open in summer 2012.
â- Holiday Inn Newcastle Jesmond: Owned by the Cairn Group, opened in December 2010 after a £3.5m conversion.
â- Holiday Inn Darlington A1 Scotch Corner: Also owned by the Cairn Group. 96-bedroom hotel set to open in the summer.
â- Holiday Inn London Stratford: 188 bedrooms. Due to open in Spring 2012. Owned by ES Properties (Stratford), the hotel will share a building with Staybridge Suites London Stratford and will provide guests with a view of the Olympic Park.
Holiday Inn Express signings â- Holiday Inn Express Liverpool Hoylake: Owned by Sanguine Hospitality, this is a 56-bedroom property rebranding from an independent hotel and is scheduled to open this spring.
â- Holiday Inn Express Dunstable: A 120-bedroom new-build property, due to open in the summer.
â- Holiday Inn Express London Harrow: A 130-bedroom new-build property, scheduled to open in autumn 2012. Owned by Crimson Hotels.
â- Holiday Inn Express Birmingham Snow Hill: A 224-bedroom office conversion set to open in early 2013. Owned by Kennedy Tower Hotel.
â- Holiday Inn Express Nuneaton: A 100-bedroom hotel rebranded to a Holiday Inn hotel in October 2010, owned by Tawnywood Hotels.
