London hotels team up to clean up Oxford Street
Fifty eager housekeepers from two hotels on Oxford Street have joined forces to give the local area a spring clean.
The community-spirited spruce-up for summer was organised by sister properties, Guoman's the Cumberland and the Thistle Marble Arch.
In a style of a 60-minute makeover, the cleaning team took to the surrounding streets with their steam cleaners, dusters and litter bags to donate an hour of their time to make the public areas spotless surrounding the hotels' front entrances on Great Cumberland Place and Oxford Street.
Their efforts were part of the New West End Company's (NWEC) second annual Oxford Street Clean initiative.
Heiko Figge, managing director, Guoman and Thistle, said: "We were delighted to be invited to join the NWEC's community cleaning initiative, as we are fully committed to being socially and environmentally responsible across our entire 38 property portfolio.
"It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm of our teams as they worked together to make a real difference in our local community - the smile on their faces was evidence of all the fun they were having!"
