Claridge's, the Connaught and the Berkeley to auction off furniture and artwork

Maybourne Hotel Group is set to auction an archive of stored pieces from across its three London hotels, with some dating back over 100 years.

The group has appointed NCM Auctions to arrange three online auctions for items from Claridge's, the Connaught and the Berkeley.

The auctions will include antique furniture, commissioned pieces, lighting, and many other items from the luxury properties.

The collection features items by leading names in the design world including David Linley, Ben Whistler, and Pierre Paulin.

It is hoped the auction will allow the pieces to be repaired and reused in a new way and save them from going to landfill.

A spokesperson from Maybourne said: "As a group with heritage buildings and brands, we have naturally built-up a collection of surplus pieces over the years.

"We have appointed a leading auction company – NCM Auctions – to ensure this important and sizeable collection is sold responsibly and with a sustainable and community-focussed approach. We are delighted to be giving these items a second life and crucially, diverting them from landfill."

Emma McSkelly, founder and chief executive of NCM Auctions, said the "many iconic pieces" in all three hotels would be of "huge interest" to collectors and small businesses as well as individuals.

The collection will be sold across three online auctions, the first of which will take place on the 27 July.
