Record-breaking turnover for the Goring hotel
London's Goring hotel has achieved a record breaking year, with revenue up 24% to £14.2m.
The five-red-AA-star, 69-bedroom family-owned property also turned a previous pre-tax loss of over £590,000 into a pre-tax profit of £2m, according to the hotel's annual report for the year to 31 March 2016, lodged at Companies House.
The 2014-15 results were negatively impacted by a four-week closure of the hotel to allow for the £1m refurbishment of the front hall.
In the directors' report, Jeremy Goring chief executive and director of the hotel, said that the latest results were an indication of "a strong return on investment for the works undertaken in 2015".
The 2015-16 financial year was also a positive year for recognition, with the Goring achieving its first Michelin star and being awarded five stars by the Forbes Travel Guide.
During the period, the hotel increased its number of staff from 172 to 176, which, Goring said was a reflection of "our continued commitment to excellent guest service".
The Goring hotel was founded by Jeremy Goring's great grandfather, Otto Richard Goring, in 1910.
