Stuart Johnson to be new Master Innholders chairman
Stuart Johnson, general manager of Rocco Forte's Brown's Hotel in London, has been elected as the new chairman of the Master Innholders.
Johnson, who takes over from Michael Gray, general manager at the Hyatt Regency London The Churchill, has been a Master Innholder since 1995 and served on its executive committee for four years.
"I'm humbled by the prospect and honoured to become chairman of such a prestigious and well respected association within the hotel industry," said Johnson.
"I hope to build on the very strong foundations that my predecessors have laid down. Master Innholders is the recognised leader for influencing professionals through education, recruitment and management development. My aim is to continue to grow its hugely successful scholarship programme and mentoring scheme.
In addition to the Master Innholders, Johnson is also an active member of several other industry bodies including Springboard and the Academy of Culinary Arts. Dedicated to recruiting more young people into the industry, Johnson pioneered the Savoy Society Mentoring Scheme of which he is chairman. He is also a visiting lecturer at several catering universities and colleges.
A former kitchen apprentice at The Savoy, Johnson joined Brown's Hotel in 2005 where he oversaw the £25m refurbishment and reopening of this legendary hotel.
