University of Birmingham appoints general manager for new hotel

The University of Birmingham has appointed Richard Metcalfe as general manager of its new Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre.

Set to open in autumn 2018, the new build, 185-bedroom, four-star standard hotel is situated on campus. It is the first hotel to be operated by the University of Birmingham.

Metcalfe has previously held general manager roles at Holiday Inn Ashford Central, Holiday Inn High Wycombe, and most recently for Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Lincoln, where he oversaw the opening of the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill and the refurbishment of the hotel's fifth floor Electric bar.
