Woman suspected of defrauding a string of hotels arrested and charged

A woman has appeared in court charged with five counts of fraud after staff from a number of hotels in Herefordshire reported rooms being booked and used, but then not being paid for.

Lisa Hubbard, aged 44, of no fixed abode, appeared before Hereford Magistrates Court on Saturday, 10 November, where she faces five charges of obtaining services dishonestly.

Her appearance is in connection with around £5,000 worth of unpaid bills from five hotels across Hereford, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.

The offences occurred between Monday, 1 October and Thursday, 8 November.

Hubbard was remanded into custody following her appearance and is due to appear before the same court later this month.

The arrest follows an alert among independent hoteliers in the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire area about the actions of a pair of suspected tricksters.

West Mercia Police could not confirm whether anyone else was still being sought in connection with the allegations.
