Former Brian Maule at Le Chardon d'Or restaurant site put up for sale

The former site of fine dining restaurant Brian Maule at Le Chardon d'Or in Glasgow has been put on the market following its closure.

The much-loved restaurant held its final service in July after 22 years of trading, with the team stating the business could "no longer be sustained" under current industry trading conditions.

Joint administrators from Interpath Advisory were appointed to the business on 27 July and have now put the site up for sale through Christie & Co.

It features a restaurant spread across two floors and can accommodate up to 140 guests across the main dining room, basement, and small bar areas, as well as two industrial kitchens.

Tony Spence, associate director at Christie & Co, said: "We are pleased to be handling the sale on behalf of the administrators and look forward to discussing this rare freehold opportunity with potential purchasers.

"The property recently traded as a fine dining restaurant for the last 20 years and remains well-placed and equipped to cater for other cuisines."

Chef Brian Maule opened Le Chardon d'Or in 2001 and served seasonal dishes sourced from Scottish suppliers.

The closure sparked an outpouring of support from across the industry, with the Chez Bruce restaurant in London tweeting that Maule was a "top bloke and a top chef" while Michel Roux Jr wrote that the closure was "very sad indeed".
